For Leonora Beaubois, founder of L&B interiors, the perfect home is simple, it would have a big eat-in kitchen for the family to gather around and a master bedroom with the perfect bed.
How did you get started?
I was working at Christie’s, but really wanted to have my own business and follow in my grandfather’s footsteps. So L&B was born and that was almost 10 years ago.
Who was your favourite celebrity client?
Roger Federer, he is so talented. His family is so sweet and down to earth, too.
If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you take with you?
My family, music and my phone. I’m such an iPhone addict!
What do you like about London?
I have been living in London for 16 years. It is such a cosmopolitan city and so welcoming that I always felt at home.
What new interiors trends are fashionable this summer?
Yellow and petrol blue are this summer’s colours. And we have been using more and more cotton percale for bed linen in 1000 thread counts that are amazingly crisp and fresh for hot summer nights.
Who and what inspires you?
Fashion, my mother who has always been my design mentor and art of course, from all around the world.
What new projects are you working on at the moment?
We are currently working on a large house in Paris, Dubai and as usual on different projects with interior designers mainly around Belgravia.
Have you had any interiors disasters over the years?
Yes, I did a flat a few years ago where I over used direct lights. I put spot lights everywhere in the ceiling, on the floor and along walls above the floor. That was way too much! I learnt that indirect light is the best, bring more warmth and a nice table lamp will always be more decorative than a ceiling spot light!
Do you have any favourite architects?
French architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte who design my shop, he is simply a genius.
Describe your perfect home?
A big eat-in kitchen for the family to gather and a master bedroom with the perfect bed, comfortable and with L&B crisp and embroidered bedlinen, complemented with a nice bedcover and a cashmere throw for the chilly nights.
